Project Overview

The building located in Centurion, is a multi-unit structure divided into four separate spaces. This particular unit was previously an automotive store and is now undergoing a significant transformation to become a distillery.


Scope of Works

The scope of this project includes the following key components:

  1. Fire Protection Design Drawing: This will outline the required fire protection measures for the new use of the space as a distillery.

  2. Council/Local Municipality Submission: Submission of the fire protection design to the relevant local authorities for approval.


Project Purpose

This document serves as the Fire Protection Design Report for UrbaNature Distilling Co. (Pty) Ltd, specifically for the unit referred to as "The Space." The Space is transitioning from its former use as an automotive store to a distillery.


Occupancy Classification and Compliance

The occupancy classification for The Space remains as D2: Moderate Risk Industrial, as per SANS 10400-A clause 21. The design will adhere to the deemed-to-satisfy requirements set forth by SANS 10400-T, ensuring that all necessary fire protection measures are in place to accommodate the internal alterations required for its new use.


Consultancy Services

DFR Kwakudi (RF) (Pty) Ltd. has been appointed by UrbaNature Distilling Co. (Pty) Ltd to provide expert fire protection consulting services. Our role involves adhering to the guidelines specified for registered professionals by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Our objective is to ensure that the fire protection measures meet all regulatory requirements and adequately address the unique needs of the distillery.


Next Steps

Upon completion of the fire protection design, the plans have been submitted to the local municipality for review and approval. This step is crucial to ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations.
